17Opty's PicksPro
Opty's Picks is a weekly AI-curated watchlist of stocks where technical, fundamental, and options conditions have historically been favorable for the wheel strategy. The list refreshes every Monday and includes daily AI commentary throughout the week.

How picks are selected
Every Monday, Opty's AI runs 1,200+ stocks through five layers of analysis:
- Quant screen — 19 dimensions including price, volume, IV, beta, sector, and options liquidity.
- Fundamental AI — DCF valuation, Piotroski F-Score, Graham fair value, Z″-Score, and analyst consensus.
- Timing AI — IV rank, structural trend regime, CSP entry signals, and support/resistance proximity.
- Risk scan — Earnings proximity, insider selling trends, news catalysts, and tail-risk flags.
- Portfolio AI — Sector diversification balancing and confidence ranking to produce the final watchlist.
The result is split into two lists: Opty's Picks (blue-chip names at any price, curated by Grandpa Opty) and Junior's Picks (stocks under $100, curated by his grandson for smaller accounts).
Daily entry signals
Each pick shows a daily entry signal updated each trading day at market close. The signal reflects current technical conditions relative to the CSP strike target:
| Signal | What it means |
|---|---|
| FAVORABLE | Price, RSI, and IV conditions are aligned with historical setups that have been favorable for put sellers on this stock. |
| MIXED | Some indicators are favorable, others are not. Conditions are less clear-cut than a full green signal. |
| UNFAVORABLE | Current conditions are not historically favorable for put sellers on this stock at this time. |
Below each signal badge you'll see the specific reasons — for example, “RSI 68 — extended” or “Price 4.2% above target strike.” The signal also tracks how many days this week the stock has shown favorable conditions.
Wheel Grades
Each pick is assigned a Wheel Grade that reflects the overall quality of the stock as a wheel candidate, combining fundamental strength, assignment quality, and options conditions:
| Grade | Profile | Sizing reference |
|---|---|---|
| A | Fortress-quality fundamentals, excellent options liquidity, strong wheel track record. The highest-conviction setups. | Full position (up to the 5%/contract, 15%/ticker guideline) |
| B | Solid fundamentals with good options conditions. Most picks fall here — high quality without requiring Fortress status. | Standard position |
| C | Elevated IV creates attractive premium, but fundamentals or liquidity are weaker. Higher risk-reward profile. | Reduced position — more cautious on sizing |
Opty's Picks vs Junior's Picks
The two lists differ primarily by account size and risk profile:
- Opty's Picks — Blue-chip and large-cap names at any price point. Typically require $10,000–$50,000+ in collateral per contract. Opty's philosophy: quality first, premium second.
- Junior's Picks — Stocks under $100 per share, typically requiring $1,000–$10,000 per contract. Junior's philosophy: high IV, lower capital barrier, still fundamentally sound.
Both lists use the same five-layer AI pipeline. The only difference is the price filter and the character behind the selection.
Strike reference levels
When you expand a pick, you'll see three strike reference levels for a CSP, selected using Black-Scholes delta targeting in the 30–45 DTE range:
| Tier | Delta range | Profile |
|---|---|---|
| Conservative | 10–19 | Further OTM. Lower premium, higher probability of the put expiring worthless. |
| Balanced | 20–29 | The middle ground between premium and probability. The highlighted tier on each card. |
| Aggressive | 30–45 | Closer to the money. Maximum premium but higher chance of assignment. |
For stocks with liquid weekly chains, a Weekly (7–10 DTE) set of reference levels also appears — higher annualized return, less cushion.
Daily commentary
Each trading day, the AI reviews every pick and adds a brief update below the pick card. Commentary is color-coded by severity:
- Green — Conditions remain in line with the original analysis. No new concerns noted.
- Yellow — Something has changed and is worth watching. Could be earnings proximity, unusual IV movement, or a technical shift.
- Red — A material change has occurred — news, a sharp price move, or a condition that meaningfully alters the original analysis.
Stocks to avoid
Below the picks, Opty's AI also flags stocks it explicitly excluded this week — names that cleared early filters but were removed due to earnings risk, accounting concerns, litigation, or other elevated tail risks. This list is educational context, not individual advice.
Weekly market context
At the top of the page, a brief market context summary describes broad conditions: index trend, VIX level, and whether the macro backdrop has historically been favorable or unfavorable for premium sellers. This is the same context that informs which picks made the list.
How to use the page
The picks page is designed to complement your own research, not replace it. A common workflow:
- Review the weekly market context to understand the backdrop the AI used.
- Expand individual picks to read the AI narrative, check the Wheel Grade, and review the strike reference levels.
- Check the daily entry signal and commentary to see whether conditions have changed since Monday.
- Use the Options Calculator to model the exact premium, break-even, and annualized return before making any decision.
- If you open a position, log it in the Trade Journal to track the full wheel cycle.
