Aroon
Trenddraws in its own pane
How recently the highs and lows were set, as a percent of the window. A fresh-highs regime keeps the up line pinned near 100.
On this chart: 25 periods.
What it measures
Aroon (Sanskrit for "dawn's early light") tracks recency rather than magnitude: Aroon-Up is how recently the 25-bar high was set, Aroon-Down how recently the low, each scaled 0–100. A stock making new highs every few days keeps Aroon-Up pinned near 100 regardless of how large the moves are.
How to read it
Up pinned high with Down near zero is a persistent uptrend; the mirror is a downtrend. The crossings mark regime handoffs, and both lines mid-range means neither recent highs nor recent lows are fresh — a drifting market.
Using it on the wheel
Because it measures recency, Aroon distinguishes a stock that stopped making lows from one that merely bounced. Aroon-Down decaying from 100 toward zero describes a decline going stale bar by bar — context for whether a support level under a put strike is being tested or abandoned.
Like everything in this guide, these are descriptions of conditions and reference levels — context for your own decisions, not instructions to trade.
